Say "Hello" to Maneki Neko or Lucky Cat or Fortune Cat. This little kitty goes by many names.
Fortune Cat is known as Maneki Neko in Japanese, which means “beckoning cat.” The cat has its paw raised as if it’s waving in good fortune for its owners. In Japan the beckoning motion is different than most Western countries, almost the opposite. Other common monikers include Lucky Cat, Money Cat, Waving Cat and Welcoming Cat.

Different types of Maneki Neko, or Lucky Cats, beckon for different things.
While you’ll most commonly see a white Maneki Neko with orange and black spots, there are quite a few color variations of the Maneki Neko and they each have a special meaning.
  1. Calico: Traditional color combination, considered to be the luckiest
  2. White: Happiness, purity and positive things to come
  3. Gold: Wealth and prosperity
  4. Black: Wards off evil spirits
  5. Red: Success in love and relationships
  6. Green: Good health

I recently purchased a Wisteria Kokedama (Grown Bonsai) from Spirit of Japan, and I am extremely satisfied with the entire process. The website was user-friendly, the ordering process was seamless, and the product arrived on time and in perfect condition. I had an amazing experience with this company! The customer service from Yuki of Sprit of Japan was top-notch: she promptly provided guidance on growing and maintaining the tree, and the product exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service.

My sakura kokedama arrived into Australia without any problem. So pleasantly surprised. The kokedama was wrapped in a nice moist blanket and the moss ball remained very well moistured. Of course, any realistic plant lover should not expect the plant to look like the photo shown in the catalogue but it’s important to have a target in life. My enquiries are always very promptly answered by Yuki-san. Thank you very much. Overall, surprisingly happy purchase experience.
